Timber Wolf Bandsaw Blade Tooth Style Guide

Timber Wolf bandsaw blades are available in the following tooth styles.  If you have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your needs.

Positive Claw (PC):  Timber Wolf PC bandsaw blades are primarily used in kiln-dry wood applications.  They feature the great finish of a skip tooth blade a at sixty percent of the feed speed capabilities of a hook tooth blade  The PC's gullet shape and depth increase sawdust removal and cutting speed, while the milled teeth help to reduce consumption of horsepower.  The PC also features Timber Wolf's unique 6.5-degree rake angle and special five-tooth set pattern.  All of this means you get a long-lasting cutting blade that glides through the wood and produces an excellent finish.  Available in 3/16" to 1" widths and 2, 3, 4 and 6 TPI.

Variable Positive Claw (VPC):Timber Wolf VPC tooth-style blades are designed for straight-line re-sawing in small to large boards, kiln and air dried, and up to 12” wide. The variable-pitch, positive-claw, tooth design reduces blade resonance through the use of variable-sized teeth. The result is a very clean finish on your wood, with an almost polished appearance. Available in 3/4” and 1” widths. Made in the USA.

Alternate Set (AS):  Timber Wolf AS tooth-style blades are primarily used by wood turners and wood carvers for roughing out bowl blanks and milling green logs. They are .032 thick, have a full alternate tooth set, a rake angle of 6.5 degrees, and they incorporate the unique geometry of Timber Wolf's PC tooth design. These blades are only available in 3/8” x 3TPI, 1/2”x 3TPI and 1/2” x 2TPI. Not meant for use on three-wheel band saws or any saw with less than a 90" blade length or a wheel diameter of less than 14".

Thin Positive Claw (TPC):  Timber Wolf TPC tooth-style blades are designed for straight-line veneer cutting.   The uniqueness of this tooth style lies in the fact that it is only .025 thick with a unique set pattern and PC tooth geometry. Total overall kerf is .048.  Only available in 3/4" x 3TPI.

Raker & High Performance (RK & HP):  TimberWolf RK and HP tooth-style blades have a very thin kerf and 0-degree rake angle, and are specifically designed for detail work in 1" and smaller kiln dry wood when a very clean finish is required. They are also very effective in plywood, particleboard and other similar products where tear-out is a concern. These blades can also be used to cut soft metals. RK blades are available in widths from 3/16” - 1” and 8, 10, 14 and 18 TPI. HP blades are only available in 1/8” x 14TPI.
