These chair plans are a direct reflection of the work done by William Morris in England in the early 1900's. They are also influenced by the work of Gustav Stickley here in America. The chair feature quadralinear leg post construction. These posts have four quartersawn oak boards mitered and then glued. This construction technique best displays the oak's ray flake which seems to wrap around the leg. These well detailed instructions explain three different methods of leg construction.
